iPod Shuffle

Ipod shuffleApple announced that its iPod shuffle, the world’s most wearable music player, is now even more affordably priced at $49 and that it will be introducing a new 2GB model of the iPod shuffle for $69. That’s double the memory for just $20 more, but with all of the same features. The popular iPod shuffle is just half a cubic inch in volume, weighs just half an ounce, and features an aluminum design with a built-in clip, making it the smallest iPod available. It comes in five colors–silver, blue, green, purple and a (PRODUCT) RED special edition.

Of course, iPods aren’t the only music players out there. What music player are you using?

Healthy Computing Habits

slouchWith the ever-growing dependence on computers for both work and pleasure, it is no surprise that computer related injuries are popping up everywhere. Some of the common problems that go hand in hand with lengthy computer use are carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis of the wrist or hand, back and shoulder pain, eye strain, headaches, and neck strain.

Here are a few simple exercises that can help you avoid injury:

  • The “Shoulder Blade Squeeze” is performed by raising your forearms and pointing your hands to the ceiling. Push your arms back, squeezing your shoulder blades together. Hold for at least 5 seconds and repeat 3 times.
  • The “Arm and Shoulder Shake”–drop your hands to your sides then shake your relaxed hands, arms, and shoulders gently for at least 5 seconds and repeat 3 times.
  • “Spanning”–place you arms straight in front of you and spread your fingers as far as possible for at least 5 seconds and repeat 5 times. This exercise was made famous by career pianists.

These are only a few key exercises. Many more are useful for preventing repetitive strain. Try to find the best series for your areas of tension and particular relaxation needs.

Vista Service Pack Expected In January

Windows Vista logoThe first service pack for Windows Vista is on its way — PC Magazine has reviewed a beta version of the update. Reviewer Neil Randall found the service pack to be a solid update of the current version of Vista, with noticeable improvements in speed. Once the service pack is released, it will become available through the Microsoft Update site.

We don’t recommend using Vista in a work environment just yet — there are still too many issues for it to be a suitable replacement for Windows XP. However, this service pack is a sign that Vista will soon be ready for your office.
