Word of the Month: HTTP

HTTP stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol, and you probably recognize it from the beginning of most links you visit. It is basically a language that allows information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

Sometimes you may notice an “S” at the end, which stands for secure. If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://. If it doesn’t, don’t enter any sensitive information, especially a credit card or social security number! In modern web browsers, the information bar will also turn green to alert you that you are on a secure connection.
